The X3 is a self-propelled road-rail lorry designed for railroad electrification projects, more specifically for the following types of missions:

  • Construction: dropper adjustments and finishing in assistance to unrolling equipment or to other high capacity assembly equipment
  • Maintenance: interventions in central areas of the catenary system, along the cantilever up to the poles.

The X3 has a scissor-lift platform that can support 2 independent baskets:

  • 1 basket with a 1 m vertical extension that allows the operator to work both on the contact wires and on the cable support
  • 1 basket on slide with lateral offset of up to 2,90 m from the centre of the track to allow working on the pole.

The X3 comes with a highway trailer for road trips between the workshop and worksite. The system can be unloaded nearby the track and then moved to the track in all-terrain mode. The vehicle can quickly get on tracks thanks to the retractable rail wheels. It can move at a speed of up to 18 km/h on tracks when its platform is completely lowered.

  • It comes with its own trailer for easy road transportation (trailer / X3 set is less than 3,5 T).
  • Very secure and ergonomic system, which satisfies the most demanding employee lifting and railroad standards (catenary, adjacent track open to traffic, etc.).
  • The operators can either work facing each other or independently.
  • Built-in equipotential mast for grounding and for reading the contact wire’s stagger
  • The baskets, when lowered, are at less than 1,60 m from the top of the rail, which allows the operators to move around on the rails under live wires while remaining standing up, in compliance with the safety standards pertaining to distance with live wires.
  • Has an anti-infringing mechanism for the adjacent track for use during the process of setting onto the track.
  • There are already over 30 machines in service in Europe.

Technical Data

  • Self-propelled machine for maintenance of the overhead wire system
  • Machine transported on a 3,5 tonne trailer (supplied)
  • The machine fits on most of the railway vehicle gauges
  • Mass of the machine without the trailer: 2 700 kg
  • Engine power: 30 hp Diesel CATERPILLAR
  • Autonomy: 20 hours of work
On Roads – All Terrain
  • 2 steering wheels
  • 4-wheel drive
  • Hydrostatic drive system
  • Moving the machine on tyres: 5,7 km/h
  • Low pressure tyres.
On Rails
  • Rail wheels driven by hydraulic motors with integrated brakes
  • Machine equipped with a dead-stop brake within the operator’s reach at his driving station, capable of preventing any movement of the machine when parked, on a track with a slope of 40‰.
  • Machine travels at 18 km/h. Two gear ranges with safety (travel and work)
  • Maximum cant accepted: 180 mm
  • Track gauge: 1 435 mm or more, possible double gauge.
Setting on/off track
  • Setting on the track with semi-flexible ramps so as not to alter the ballast
  • A mechanical stop prevents the machine from infringing the railway gauge on the opposite track side
  • Setting on/off the track is obtained by remote control. No operator is on-board during the setting on/off operation.
Scissor-Lift Platform
  • Number of baskets: 2
  • Max. load per basket: 1 person + tools
  • Elevation above the top of the rails:
